Call for Operational Volunteers
Be Part of Something Transformative
Help us support those returning from incarceration. These roles put you face-to-face with participants and the day-to-day of the mission.
Admin Assistance
Support our office with phones, organizing files, and scheduling.
Peer Support
Work directly with participants to mentor, listen, and provide encouragement.
Event & Outreach
Assist with community events, workshops, and resource fairs.
Show Up Weekly
Regular Volunteer Roles
These are recurring, ongoing commitments — the volunteers who show up week after week and become a steady presence in participants' lives. If you can give a few consistent hours, this is where you fit.
Literacy Program Instructor
Commitment: 2–3 hours / week · 10-week cohorts
- Teach digital or financial literacy classes
- Lead small-group, hands-on sessions
- Background in education, banking, or IT helpful (not required)
- We provide curriculum, materials, and training
Reentry Peer Mentor
Commitment: 2–4 hours / month · 6-month minimum
- One-on-one mentoring of a returning citizen
- Weekly check-ins by phone or in person
- Help participants stay on track with goals
- Lived experience valued — formerly incarcerated mentors especially welcome
Youth Tutor
Commitment: 2 hours / week · school-year cycle
- Academic tutoring, GED prep, or college readiness
- Work with youth ages 14–24
- Math, reading, writing, or test-prep specialists needed
- Training and child-safety clearance provided
1-on-1 Financial Coach
Commitment: 1–2 hours / month per participant
- Private budget and credit-building sessions
- Help participants open accounts and pull credit reports
- CPAs, bankers, and credit counselors strongly desired
- Strict confidentiality — coach training provided
Resource Navigator
Commitment: 3–4 hours / week
- Help participants apply for benefits, housing, and ID
- Walk people through online forms and portals
- Connect participants to community partners
- Patience and follow-through are the job
Reliable Driver
Commitment: 1 recurring day / week
- Standing day each week — same time, same route
- Transport to job interviews, court, and appointments
- Valid license, clean driving record, insurance required
- Mileage reimbursement available
Office Volunteer
Commitment: 4 hours / week · same weekday
- Phones, intake paperwork, scheduling, and follow-up
- Be the first friendly voice participants hear
- Comfortable with email, spreadsheets, and a calendar app

Faith Community Liaison
Commitment: Monthly · ongoing
- Represent Solid Ground at your congregation
- Coordinate in-kind drives and volunteer recruitment
